Town of Penfield to host third annual Community Health and Wellness Fair on October 9

Penfield, New York – The Town of Penfield will host its third annual Community Health and Wellness Fair on Friday, October 9, bringing together local organizations and residents for an afternoon focused on health, fitness, safety and community resources.

The free, family-friendly event will take place from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the newly completed Alpheus Clark House Lodge at Shadow Pines, located at 675 Whalen Road. The event is open to residents of all ages and is designed to give people an easy way to learn about services and programs available in the area.

More than 35 organizations from throughout the community are expected to take part. Participating groups will represent a range of health, recreation, safety and wellness services, giving visitors an opportunity to speak directly with local organizations and learn more about what they offer.

For residents, the fair can be a chance to discover resources they may not have encountered before. Organizations will be available to answer questions, explain their programs and provide information about ways people can stay active and maintain their health.

There will also be activities aimed at children. One of the attractions will be a close-up look at equipment and emergency vehicles used by local organizations, including the Penfield Parks Department and Penfield-Webster EMS.

The organizers say the event is intended to be useful for the entire family, rather than focusing on just one area of health or wellness. Visitors can explore fitness and recreation opportunities, personal wellness resources and local safety services while connecting with representatives from participating organizations.

Outdoor activities will also be part of the afternoon. The Penfield Trails Committee will lead guided hikes, giving attendees an opportunity to explore the area while taking part in a physical activity.

The fair will also provide an opportunity for people to visit the newly built Alpheus Clark House and Lodge. The facility at Shadow Pines is a new community gathering space, and the health and wellness event will give residents a chance to see the completed building while attending the fair.

Food will be available during the event as well. The Smoothies Plus food truck is scheduled to be on site, adding another option for visitors as they spend the afternoon at Shadow Pines.

The Community Health and Wellness Fair is organized by the Town of Penfield Employee Wellness Committee. Organizers are inviting residents to attend and make use of the information and activities available throughout the event.

Local organizations that would like to participate as vendors can also apply to be part of the fair. The deadline for vendor applications is Friday, October 2.

With dozens of organizations expected, the October 9 event will bring together health, recreation, safety and wellness resources in one location. For families and individuals looking for local programs, activities or community services, the fair offers an opportunity to gather information, ask questions and meet the organizations providing those resources.

The event will run for four hours, from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Alpheus Clark House Lodge at Shadow Pines. Admission is free.
