Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announces new grant opportunities to support mid-sized arts groups with 2026 operating expenses

Monroe County, New York – Monroe County is opening a new funding opportunity for mid-sized arts and cultural organizations, giving eligible nonprofits and other qualifying groups a chance to receive financial support for their 2026 operating expenses.

County Executive Adam Bello announced the launch of an online grant application process designed to help organizations that contribute to the region’s cultural landscape while facing the ongoing costs of day-to-day operations. The initiative is aimed at strengthening the local arts community by providing resources that can help organizations continue serving residents throughout Monroe County.

Applications, along with a list of frequently asked questions, are now available through the county’s arts grant website. Interested organizations have until 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, to submit their applications for consideration.

“Monroe County recognizes the crucial role that local arts organizations play in our economy and our quality of life,” said County Executive Bello. “These investments help stabilize organizations and ensure that we proudly remain a community of the arts.”

County officials said the funding is intended to help qualifying organizations cover operating expenses rather than support a single project or event. Grant amounts will vary based on several factors, including the total number of eligible applicants, the quality of submitted applications, and the amount of funding available for distribution.

To help organizations prepare competitive applications, Monroe County will host a virtual training session that includes a question-and-answer period. The online event is scheduled for noon on Thursday, Aug. 6, giving arts and cultural groups an opportunity to learn more about the application process, eligibility requirements, and funding criteria before the submission deadline.

Those who are unable to attend the live session will still have access to the information, as county officials plan to post a recorded version afterward for future viewing.

The grant program is open to organizations that maintain a significant presence in Monroe County. To qualify, applicants must conduct at least half of their operations within the county and maintain a physical location there. Organizations also must have been legally recognized for at least one year as either a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or a limited liability company with a tax filing.

In addition, applicants must have a primary mission centered on arts and culture. Eligible organizations are required to have annual operating expenses ranging between $50,000 and $4 million, placing the program squarely in the mid-sized organization category.

County leaders say the funding reflects an ongoing commitment to preserving and strengthening the local arts sector, which supports economic activity while enriching the cultural life of the community. Arts organizations across Monroe County provide performances, exhibitions, educational programs, and other creative experiences that benefit residents of all ages.

By offering financial assistance for operational costs, officials hope organizations can remain focused on delivering those services while maintaining long-term stability. The county is encouraging eligible groups to review the application materials, participate in the upcoming training session if possible, and submit their applications before the Aug. 21 deadline to be considered for 2026 funding.
