Dozens of special events set to bring music food and fun to Rochester Public Market throughout the entire year
Rochester, New York – A full calendar of lively gatherings is set to transform Rochester’s Public Market into a year-round hub of activity in 2026, with city officials unveiling a lineup designed to bring together music lovers, food enthusiasts, families, and curious visitors alike. The announcement, delivered by Mayor Malik D. Evans, highlights a packed schedule of special events that stretch across the seasons, promising a steady rhythm of community life at one of the city’s most iconic destinations.
Nestled at 280 N. Union St., the market has long been more than a place to shop. It is where early mornings begin with farmers unloading fresh produce, where neighbors exchange greetings over coffee, and where small businesses quietly shape the local economy. This year, that familiar routine will be amplified by dozens of organized events aimed at turning ordinary days into shared experiences.
“From market days to special events, the Rochester Public Market is truly a one-stop shop for Rochester’s residents, families and visitors,” said Mayor Evans. “Don’t miss out on the vibrant music, food and fun!”
While the headline events draw attention, the backbone of the market remains its weekly schedule. Every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., vendors fill the space with affordable goods—fresh fruits and vegetables, baked items, handmade products, and more. These regular market days continue to serve as a reliable resource for residents seeking quality and value, even as the event calendar expands around them.
Among the most anticipated attractions are the Food Truck Rodeos, a series that blends culinary creativity with live entertainment. Taking place on the last Wednesday of each month from April through September, these evening gatherings invite dozens of food trucks—both familiar favorites and new arrivals—to set up side by side. From 5 to 9 p.m., the market transforms into an open-air dining space, where the scent of diverse cuisines mixes with the sounds of local musicians. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs and settle in for a relaxed, communal atmosphere.
Spring brings another burst of energy with Flower City Days, a celebration of all things green and growing. Held on Sundays throughout May, along with a special Memorial Day edition, the event showcases a wide variety of plants—from vibrant annuals and hardy perennials to herbs, vegetables, and eye-catching hanging baskets. Beyond gardening, the event also offers decorative items and outdoor art, turning the market into a colorful showcase that signals the arrival of warmer days.
As the season shifts, the Great NY State Flea returns with a rotating lineup of vendors and themes. Scheduled periodically from May through October, these flea market-style events provide a platform for sellers offering everything from vintage finds to handmade goods. Each date brings a slightly different flavor, ensuring that no two visits feel the same. The concept builds on the legacy of community garage sales while expanding into something broader and more dynamic.
Summer evenings will once again echo with music during Bands on the Bricks, a fan-favorite series that runs on Friday nights from mid-July through mid-August. Known for drawing large crowds, the concerts feature a mix of national performers and beloved local acts. As the sun sets, the market becomes a stage where people gather not just for the music, but for the shared experience—complete with food and drink vendors adding to the festive mood.
By autumn, the focus shifts toward family-friendly traditions. Halloween at the Market, scheduled for late October, offers a safe and lively space for children to trick-or-treat while enjoying crafts, performances, and themed activities. The event has become a seasonal highlight, blending the excitement of the holiday with the welcoming atmosphere of the market.
As the year winds down, the market transitions into a festive setting with Holidays at the Market. Spanning late November and early December, this long-standing tradition brings together vendors offering seasonal goods—from fresh-cut trees and wreaths to handcrafted gifts and specialty foods. For many, it marks the unofficial start of the holiday season, a place where shopping becomes an experience rather than a task.
Beyond the city-organized events, the market will also host additional gatherings led by community partners, adding even more variety to an already packed schedule. These collaborations reflect the broader role of the market as a shared space, shaped not just by officials but by the people who use it.
Taken together, the 2026 lineup paints a picture of a place constantly in motion—where early-morning routines meet evening celebrations, and where each season brings its own character. For Rochester residents and visitors alike, the Public Market is poised to remain not just a destination, but a living, evolving centerpiece of community life.
