Rochester, New York – Several municipal offices in the City of Rochester will temporarily close their doors on Friday, April 3, as the city observes Good Friday. The holiday, recognized by many Christian communities as part of the lead-up to Easter, will bring a brief pause to some administrative operations across the city.

Among the locations that will not be open to the public that day are Rochester City Hall, the city’s Neighborhood Service Centers, the community-focused R-Centers, and Rochester Animal Services. The Rochester Traffic Violations Agency will also be closed for the day.

In addition, administrative offices at the Honorable Loretta C. Scott Center for Human Services will suspend operations during the holiday observance. City officials note that normal activity will resume once the holiday passes.

Despite the closures, many everyday city services will continue as usual. Residents should expect no interruptions to refuse and recycling collection, which will proceed according to the standard pickup schedule. The city confirmed that sanitation crews will operate normally throughout the holiday.

Library access will remain largely unchanged as well. Most branches of the Rochester Public Library will welcome visitors during their regular hours. However, the Frederick Douglass Branch Library will be closed to the public on Friday, April 3, before reopening the following day, Saturday, April 4.

Meanwhile, the city’s information and assistance line will continue to serve residents throughout the holiday. The 311 Call Center will remain operational from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., offering help with questions, service requests, and general city information.

While the holiday brings a short pause for several administrative offices, most core services will still be available, ensuring residents can access essential support throughout the day.
