Rochester City Hall and several city administrative offices to close Monday for the Presidents Day holiday observance

Rochester, New York – Many government offices across Rochester will temporarily go quiet on Monday, Feb. 16, as the city pauses operations to mark the Presidents Day holiday. The annual observance, which honors the nation’s past leaders, will bring a short break in normal administrative services while most essential functions continue running.

City officials confirmed that Rochester City Hall will be closed for the day, along with several other key public service locations. That list includes Neighborhood Service Centers, R-Centers, Rochester Animal Services, the Rochester Traffic Violations Agency, and the administrative office building at the Honorable Loretta C. Scott Center for Human Services. Regular operations at those facilities are expected to resume once the holiday passes.

Despite the closures, not all city services will pause. Residents will still see their trash and recycling collected on the usual schedule, avoiding any delays that often accompany long weekends. The city’s 311 Call Center will also continue to operate, remaining open from early morning until late evening to handle questions, service requests, and general concerns.

Meanwhile, local youth and families who rely on R-Centers for activities during the winter school break will still have access to programs. Officials noted that the centers will reopen under special February recess hours from Tuesday, Feb. 17, through Friday, Feb. 20. A full schedule of participating locations and times has been posted online for public viewing.

Library services will also remain steady. Branches of the Rochester Public Library are expected to maintain their normal hours, providing residents with uninterrupted access to books, digital resources, and study spaces.

City leaders say the temporary closures are routine and encourage residents to plan ahead if they need in-person assistance at government offices. While administrative doors may be closed for the holiday, officials stress that essential services and community resources will remain accessible, ensuring the city continues to function smoothly throughout the long weekend.
