Henrietta announces upcoming change to its official website domain name beginning November 10

Henrietta, New York – The Town of Henrietta has announced an important update for residents and visitors who use its official website. Beginning November 10, the town’s online home will move from Henrietta.org to HenriettaNY.gov.

Town officials said the upcoming change is part of a larger statewide effort requiring all municipalities in New York to transition to verified .gov domains, a move aimed at improving cybersecurity, transparency, and public trust across government platforms.

“Beginning November 10th, our official website will be moving from Henrietta.org to HenriettaNY.gov. This change is part of a statewide initiative requiring all New York municipalities to use verified .gov domains to improve security, transparency, and public trust,” the town stated in its official notice.

Residents who frequently use the Henrietta website for updates, permits, or community information will still be able to access the old address during the transition. All existing links to Henrietta.org will temporarily redirect users to the new HenriettaNY.gov site, ensuring that no one loses access while the migration is underway.

Officials are encouraging everyone to update their bookmarks and saved links once the change becomes active. “During the transition period, our website will remain accessible, and all links to the old .org domain will temporarily redirect to the new .gov address. Please update any bookmarks or saved links after the change takes effect,” the statement continued.

The switch to a .gov domain reflects Henrietta’s commitment to modernizing its digital infrastructure and aligning with federal security standards. Verified .gov domains are managed through the U.S. government’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), providing stronger protection against online fraud and impersonation attempts.
