Applications are now open for the Fall 2025 Rochester Community University program focused on financial empowerment and community education

Rochester, New York – The City of Rochester has officially opened applications for the Fall 2025 session of Rochester Community University, a free educational program designed to help residents strengthen their financial knowledge and build long-term stability.
This year’s session will focus entirely on financial empowerment — offering practical lessons and guidance for those looking to manage their money more effectively, buy a home, or even start their own business. Participants will also learn how to access valuable City and community resources that support financial growth and security.
“Rochester Community University is one of my favorite programs because it helps build community by bringing neighbors together, connecting residents with City Hall, and creating meaningful dialogue,” said Mayor Malik D. Evans. “These classes offer a bird’s-eye view of the financial empowerment resources available to all community members, and we hope participants share what they learn with others in their lives.”
The upcoming Fall 2025 session is being coordinated by the City’s Office of Financial Empowerment in partnership with the Neighborhood Service Centers. Classes will be held virtually on Tuesday evenings, allowing residents to participate from the comfort of their homes. The three-week program will run from October 21 through November 4, providing an accessible schedule for those balancing work, family, and personal commitments.
Organizers say the goal is not just to teach financial literacy but to build a stronger, more connected community where residents feel confident in their financial decisions and aware of the local resources available to them.
Applications for the Fall session must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025. City officials encourage early applications, as space in the virtual classroom is limited.
Rochester Community University has become a cornerstone of civic education and engagement, giving residents a direct link to City Hall and helping them develop real-world skills that can improve their financial futures. Those interested can find application details and program information on the City of Rochester’s official website.
