Flower City School No. 54 receives classroom supplies and funding support thanks to West Herr Subaru of Greece

Rochester, New York – Students and teachers at Flower City School No. 54 are starting the school year with extra support thanks to a generous donation from West Herr Subaru of Greece. As part of the nationwide Subaru Loves Learning program, the dealership delivered boxes of classroom supplies and surprised six classrooms with $500 each to purchase additional resources.
The visit brought excitement to students and staff alike, as teachers opened packages filled with essentials that often run out quickly during the school year. The donated supplies included crayons, markers, dry-erase markers, cleaning wipes, glue sticks, Post-it Notes, pencils, and whiteboard erasers. For educators who frequently purchase materials out of their own pockets, the contribution was both welcome and meaningful.

“A lot of us from different stores love giving to the community, and we just wanted to share some joy,” said Jules Scofeile of West Herr Subaru in Greece. The gesture, she explained, was not only about meeting classroom needs but also about reminding teachers and students that their community is behind them.
The extra $500 provided to each of the six classrooms will allow teachers to buy items specific to their students’ learning goals. Whether that means adding new books, upgrading supplies for science projects, or providing hands-on materials for creative lessons, the funding gives educators flexibility to tailor their classrooms.
The initiative is part of a broader push by Subaru to support education nationwide. Through the Subaru Loves Learning program, the company has reached more than 950,000 students across the country, offering supplies, funding, and encouragement to schools of all sizes. By partnering with local dealerships, the program ensures that the impact is felt directly in communities like Rochester.
For School No. 54, the donation goes beyond the materials themselves. Administrators said the partnership shows students that their education matters and that businesses can play a key role in helping them succeed. The support comes at a time when schools continue to balance tight budgets with the growing needs of classrooms.
With fresh supplies in hand and new opportunities made possible by the funding, students and teachers at Flower City School No. 54 now have an extra boost of inspiration as they continue the school year.
