State Police and Cohoes Police continue investigation into homicide on Earl Lynn Court as suspect remains at large

New York – Law enforcement agencies across New York are on high alert after a deadly incident in Cohoes left one person dead and a suspect still on the run. The New York State Police, working closely with the Cohoes Police Department, confirmed that they are investigating a homicide that took place on Earl Lynn Court on September 14, 2025.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 53-year-old Anthony G. Bechand. Police say Bechand is considered armed and dangerous, urging the public to stay vigilant and avoid any direct contact. He is described as a white male, standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing roughly 180 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair. At this time, investigators have not released details on what he was wearing when last seen.
Bechand was believed to be traveling in a white 2024 Chevrolet Silverado. That vehicle was located earlier in the day on September 14 at the intersection of County Route 60 and County Route 86 in the Town of Brighton, Franklin County. The discovery has prompted an expanded search effort, as investigators work to trace where he may have gone next.
The homicide has rattled the community, with residents expressing shock at the violence and concern for their safety as the search continues. Police have stressed the importance of public cooperation while warning people not to take matters into their own hands.
“Anyone who has seen Bechand or has information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the New York State Police at 518-897-2000. Do not approach him. Your assistance is vital as this investigation continues,” officials said in a statement.
While details of the crime itself have not been released, police are dedicating significant resources to locating Bechand and ensuring no further harm comes to the public. For now, the case remains active, and investigators continue piecing together evidence that could lead to his capture.
