Brockport, New York – The Village of Brockport is preparing to take another step forward in shaping its future with the help of a state development grant. Officials announced that the next Local Planning Committee (LPC) meeting for the Brockport NY Forward initiative will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 6 p.m. The session will take place at the Parish Center at the Church of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, located at 152 Main Street in Brockport.

Brockport was chosen earlier this year as one of the Finger Lakes region’s recipients of a $4.5 million NY Forward grant. The statewide program provides targeted investments in villages and small downtowns with the goal of supporting economic growth, revitalizing community spaces, and creating places where future generations can thrive. Funding is reserved for high-priority projects that strengthen local economies while enhancing quality of life.

The upcoming meeting will be the fourth time the Local Planning Committee gathers since Brockport secured the grant. During this session, members will provide updates on the progress of the planning effort and will continue to review proposals submitted by residents, businesses, and organizations during the Open Call for projects. By examining these ideas, the committee will work toward identifying which projects align best with the program’s vision and funding priorities.

Like previous meetings, the September session will be open to the public. Officials emphasized that community involvement is an essential part of the process. A portion of the meeting will be set aside for public comments, giving residents the opportunity to share feedback, raise concerns, or suggest additional ideas.

The Village underscored its commitment to making the process transparent and inclusive. “The Village of Brockport is committed to hosting open, inclusive, and accessible meetings,” officials noted. Residents who need accommodations or have accessibility-related questions are encouraged to reach out in advance to Leigh Ann Kimber at [email protected].

Information about the NY Forward effort, including project updates and details about the planning process, is available on the dedicated project website at www.brockportforward.com. The site is designed to give residents an easy way to follow progress and stay connected to developments as the initiative moves forward.

The $4.5 million grant has generated strong interest across the community, with many hoping that the funding will support a mix of public infrastructure improvements, cultural and recreational spaces, and private investment opportunities. While the final list of projects has not yet been determined, the ongoing review process will help ensure that the selected initiatives reflect both the community’s priorities and the program’s long-term goals.

The September meeting is expected to play an important role in narrowing down those options. By combining professional planning expertise with local voices, the committee hopes to deliver a vision that captures the strengths of Brockport while preparing the village for future growth.

Residents are encouraged to attend the session and take part in shaping the projects that could redefine Brockport’s Main Street and surrounding neighborhoods for years to come.
