Penfield, New York – A late-night accident on Saturday has left a young woman in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle while walking along Plank Road, according to officials with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim, a 29-year-old woman whose identity has not been released, was walking along Plank Road when a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man hit her. The collision occurred sometime late Saturday night, prompting an immediate response from emergency crews.

Investigators say they are still trying to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash. The driver involved has not been charged with any crime at this time. “The incident is still under investigation,” officials said, leaving the possibility open for further developments as more information becomes available.
Plank Road was temporarily shut down between Jackson Road and Shoecraft Road in the aftermath of the collision. Deputies worked through the night to collect evidence and reconstruct the scene. The road has since been reopened to traffic.
As of now, law enforcement has not confirmed whether speed, distraction, or other factors may have contributed to the incident. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has relevant information to come forward.
This tragic accident has shaken the Penfield community and reignited conversations about pedestrian safety along suburban roads that may lack adequate lighting or sidewalks.
No further details have been released about either the victim or the driver. Authorities are expected to provide updates as the investigation continues.
