Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announces the full summer 2025 schedule for the free family-friendly Movies in the Park series

Rochester, New York – Summer evenings in Monroe County are about to get a little more magical. County Executive Adam Bello has officially announced the full lineup for the 2025 Movies in the Park series — a seasonal tradition that invites residents of all ages to enjoy blockbuster films beneath the stars, completely free of charge.
With six beloved films scheduled to play from late June through the end of August, the program promises to bring families and friends together in scenic outdoor locations ranging from Ontario Beach Park to Highland Park, with special screenings at Innovative Field and even the Seneca Park Zoo.
“Movies in the Park is a great opportunity for family and friends to get together, spend some time outdoors, and enjoy a few all-time favorite films for free this summer,” said County Executive Bello. “Join us at the Zoo, Innovative Field, and several parks for movies under the stars. Don’t forget your popcorn, candy and a blanket for the full experience!”

First introduced several years ago, Movies in the Park has grown into a seasonal favorite, attracting thousands of attendees throughout the summer months. This year’s film schedule aims to satisfy a wide range of moviegoers, from families with young children to those looking for a dose of nostalgia.
The 2025 lineup features a mix of animated adventures, heartwarming classics, and inspirational tales. Each film will be shown at a unique location, giving attendees the chance to explore different corners of Monroe County while enjoying cinema under the open sky.
The series kicks off on Friday, June 27, with Moana 2 lighting up the night at Ontario Beach Park — an ideal start for families who love the original Disney hit. From there, the schedule continues as follows:
• Thursday, July 17: Angels in the Outfield at Innovative Field
• Friday, July 25: Madagascar at the Seneca Park Zoo
• Thursday, August 7: Homeward Bound at Innovative Field
• Friday, August 15: October Sky at Highland Park
• Friday, August 29: The Wild Robot at Webster Park
All screenings will begin at dusk, which is roughly 30 minutes after sunset. For the two showings at Innovative Field, home to the Rochester Red Wings, gates will open early at 7 p.m. to allow families to find their seats, enjoy pre-movie activities, and settle in.
Organizers say that what makes Movies in the Park special isn’t just the films, but the experience of gathering as a community. From spreading out a blanket on the grass to sharing a bag of popcorn under the glow of a setting sun, these events are designed to offer simple pleasures in familiar spaces.
“We’re happy to bring back our Movies in the Park program for another summer,” said Patrick Meredith, Director of Monroe County Parks. “We have a lineup of movies for all tastes and it is a great way for families to enjoy the outdoors and our Monroe County Parks.”
In addition to great entertainment, the program highlights the county’s scenic outdoor venues. Each film location has been chosen not only for its accessibility and family-friendly atmosphere but also to encourage residents to explore parks they might not visit otherwise.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, snacks, and their sense of summer adventure. No registration or tickets are required — just show up and enjoy. Organizers advise guests to arrive early, especially for more popular films, to find a good spot and enjoy the sunset before the screen lights up.
Parking will be available at or near each venue, and county staff will be on hand to assist with logistics and ensure a safe, enjoyable environment for everyone. Restrooms and concessions will be available at select sites.
While the events are entirely free, attendees are reminded to bring a flashlight for the walk back to their cars after the movie, especially in less urban areas like Highland or Webster Park. Dogs are allowed at some sites but should be kept leashed, and pet owners are asked to clean up after their animals.
For many residents, Movies in the Park has become an essential part of summer — a chance to slow down, soak in the beauty of local parks, and introduce kids to the magic of big-screen storytelling in a low-pressure setting.
This year’s mix of animated sequels, zoo-themed adventures, and baseball-inspired dreams offers something for everyone — and continues the program’s tradition of combining community connection with simple summer joy.
For those interested in full details about the movie lineup, locations, or any potential weather-related cancellations, the county urges residents to visit monroecounty.gov or follow official Monroe County social media pages for real-time updates.
