Woman from Massena arrested after domestic dispute escalates in the town of Brasher

Brasher, New York – A domestic incident in the town of Brasher led to the arrest of a Massena woman on the morning of June 2, 2025, after police say a verbal argument escalated into a dangerous confrontation involving a weapon.
According to New York State Police, Troopers were dispatched at approximately 11:18 a.m. to a home on County Route 38 in Brasher following a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, officers began investigating what had taken place between the two individuals involved.
Authorities say the dispute began as a verbal altercation but quickly turned threatening when 41-year-old Trista M. Stevens allegedly grabbed a knife and made menacing statements directed at the victim. The victim managed to contact law enforcement during the incident, prompting Stevens to leave the property before Troopers arrived.
Stevens, a resident of Massena, was later located by responding officers. She was taken into custody without incident and transported to the State Police station in Massena for processing.
Following her arrest, Stevens was charged with menacing in the second degree and third-degree criminal trespass. After being processed, she was brought before the Town of Norfolk Court, where she was arraigned on the charges.
Stevens was released under the supervision of the probation department.
Authorities have not released additional information about the victim or whether any injuries occurred during the incident. The case remains under review as part of the ongoing investigation.
