Pittsford, New York – On Monday, May 26, 2025, residents of Pittsford and surrounding communities will gather once again to pay heartfelt tribute to America’s fallen service members through a cherished local tradition — the annual Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony.

The day’s events will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m., with the parade kicking off from its usual starting point at Sutherland High School. Marchers will make their way down Jefferson Road, continuing along Main Street, and finally entering the Pittsford Cemetery via Washington Road, where a solemn remembrance ceremony will take place. The route and structure remain familiar, offering a sense of continuity that has become a key part of this moving tribute.

Organizers encourage all members of the community to attend, not only to enjoy the sights and sounds of the parade but to take part in a moment of shared respect and remembrance. The parade is expected to feature local veterans, scout groups, civic organizations, and patriotic musical performances — all marching with purpose toward a moment of reflection.

The heart of the day lies in the Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony, to be held at Pittsford Cemetery. With flags waving and the community gathered in silence, the ceremony will honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the armed forces. The Pittsford Fire Department Band will provide stirring patriotic music, lending both gravity and inspiration to the moment.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to express your gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives in wartime service to our country and to thank all of our veterans,” organizers reminded residents ahead of the event.

The ceremony is expected to include remarks from local officials, the reading of names, and symbolic tributes that allow participants to reflect on the real cost of freedom. A printed agenda for the event is available online, and those planning to attend are encouraged to view it ahead of time via the community’s Memorial Day web page.

Following the ceremony, all are invited to gather at the Rayson-Miller American Legion Post 899 for a reception. Located at 21 North Main Street, in the lower level of Village Hall, the post will open its doors to veterans, families, and community members for light refreshments and fellowship. It’s an opportunity not only to honor the fallen but to connect with those who continue to serve.

Each year, this event brings neighbors together across generations, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by those in uniform. Memorial Day is more than just a day off — it is a day to pause, remember, and express deep and lasting gratitude.
