Greece, New York – A beloved community tradition returns this June as Supervisor Bill Reilich, the Greece Town Councilmembers, and the Greece Youth Board invite residents and visitors alike to gather for the annual Jerry J. Helfer Memorial Food Truck Rodeo. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 4th, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Greece Town Hall Campus, offering an evening of food, fun, and music—all in honor of a man whose legacy continues to inspire the town he helped shape.

Held in conjunction with the Town of Greece Summer Concert Series, this year’s event promises more than just good eats. Attendees can enjoy live music starting at 6 p.m. by a Zac Brown Tribute Band, bringing a dose of country charm and Southern rock energy to the evening festivities. As the food trucks begin serving at 5:30 p.m., families, friends, and neighbors can gather for a summer night that blends entertainment with a heartfelt purpose.

While the full lineup of participating food trucks is expected to be announced soon, organizers assure a wide selection of local favorites will be on hand to satisfy every craving, from savory bites to sweet treats. But more than just a community picnic or a concert under the stars, this event serves as a celebration of Jerry J. Helfer’s life and values.

“Jerry Helfer was a man of exceptional character and virtue who always exhibited kindness to anyone he encountered,” the organizers note. Known for his tireless dedication to Greece, Jerry began his public service career on the Greece Youth Board—a fitting place for someone whose heart was always with the youth of the town. He later served as a Town Councilman for over a decade, from 1998 to 2009, and ultimately as Deputy Supervisor before his untimely passing in July 2014.

The evening’s proceeds will support the Jerry J. Helfer Youth Engagement Scholarship, a fund established to honor Jerry’s unwavering commitment to service and leadership. A donation box will be available on-site, with contributions going directly toward scholarships for local students who demonstrate strong moral character, leadership skills, and a deep involvement in community service. Checks can be made payable to “Town of Greece,” with “Jerry Helfer Memorial Fund” noted in the memo line.

The scholarship not only preserves Jerry’s memory but also encourages the next generation of civic-minded individuals to step forward and make a difference, just as he did.

“Throughout his life, Jerry dedicated his time and talents to making our community a better place,” the announcement continues. And now, the Food Truck Rodeo offers everyone a chance to do the same—simply by showing up, enjoying a summer evening, and supporting a meaningful cause.

This community-driven event captures what makes Greece unique: its dedication to honoring those who serve, investing in its youth, and coming together through shared experiences. With delicious food, live music, and a deeper purpose behind the festivities, the Jerry J. Helfer Memorial Food Truck Rodeo is more than just a night out—it’s a legacy in motion.
