Town of Henrietta announces that the 2025 tentative assessment roll is now complete and available for public inspection

Henrietta, New York – Property owners in the Town of Henrietta should take note: the 2025 Tentative Assessment Roll has been completed and is now officially open for public inspection. The announcement was made by the Assessor’s Office, signaling the beginning of an important window for residents to review and, if necessary, challenge their property assessments.
As of May 1st, a copy of the tentative roll is available at the Assessor’s Office located in Henrietta Town Hall, 475 Calkins Road, Rochester, NY 14623. For those unable to visit in person, the document can also be accessed online through the Assessor’s Page at www.henrietta.org.
This roll contains preliminary property values for the upcoming year and plays a crucial role in determining future property taxes. Homeowners are encouraged to review their assessments carefully and ensure the information listed reflects current property conditions and values.
If a property owner believes their assessment is inaccurate or unfair, there is an opportunity to file a grievance. The Board of Assessment Review will hold an open session on Tuesday, May 27th, from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M., to hear formal complaints. This is the only scheduled day for such hearings, so timely action is essential.
“Completed RP-524 complaint forms with supporting documentation must be submitted either in person, via mail, or Drop Box to the Assessor’s Office on or before May 27th. Once a properly completed complaint form is received the complainant will be contacted to schedule an appointment for a hearing with the Board of Assessment Review. Grievances may be filed until 8:00 P.M. on May 27th.”
Grievance submissions begin May 1st and must include sufficient evidence to support claims of incorrect assessment. This can include recent appraisals, photos, or data showing inconsistencies in the property record.
Those needing guidance can obtain the RP-524 form and a helpful handbook titled “Contesting Your Assessment in New York State” from the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance website at www.tax.ny.gov, the Assessor’s Page on the town’s site, or by visiting Henrietta Town Hall directly.
This annual process allows residents to ensure transparency and fairness in property tax evaluations. For many, it offers a rare chance to actively participate in shaping the amount they will pay in taxes for the year ahead.
Town officials urge the public to take advantage of the available resources and not wait until the last minute to review their assessments. With only one day designated for formal grievances, early preparation is key.
