Monroe County Executive Adam Bello announces that all three county golf courses will officially open for the 2025 season starting Monday April 21

Monroe County, New York – Golfers, dust off your clubs – Monroe County’s beloved golf courses are back in action starting Monday, April 21, marking the official kickoff of the 2025 season.
County Executive Adam Bello shared the exciting news today, confirming that Durand Eastman, Genesee Valley, and Churchville golf courses will all open their greens to the public once again. With spring finally taking hold, local golf enthusiasts can return to the fairways for another season of swings, putts, and sunshine.
“Monroe County offers three affordable, accessible, and competitive golf courses that provide a terrific opportunity for residents to get out and enjoy a great sport,” said County Executive Bello. “As warmer days approach, I encourage golfers of all skill levels to take advantage of the facilities we have and hit the links!”
These aren’t just your average municipal courses — Monroe County’s trio of public layouts offer something special for every golfer. Genesee Valley Golf Course is home to two 18-hole courses kept in pristine shape. It also features an all-grass driving range and the Calvin Peete Pitch & Putt area for honing short game skills. Churchville Golf Course boasts a sprawling 27-hole championship setup, along with a roomy practice green and driving range. And then there’s Durand Eastman — a scenic 18-hole championship course designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Sr., nestled into a picturesque park setting.
Beyond the tee boxes and greens, there’s more to get excited about. The county is once again offering a variety of programs for residents who want to dive deeper into the game. Golf lessons, local tournaments, and community leagues are available at all three facilities, giving players of all ages and backgrounds a chance to improve their game or simply enjoy the camaraderie of group play.
Discount opportunities are also on the table. Seniors aged 62 and older, veterans, active military members, youth under 17, and individuals with physician-certified disabilities can all apply for a free permit that provides reduced greens fees for the entire season. These permits can be obtained directly from any of the three pro shops on site.
Tee times can already be reserved online by visiting www.monroecountyparksgolf.com, making it easy for golfers to plan ahead and secure their spot on the course. However, officials have noted that while the greens are ready, driving ranges at the courses will remain closed temporarily due to wet conditions. They’ll reopen as soon as it’s safe to do so.
With the smell of fresh-cut grass in the air and temperatures beginning to rise, Monroe County’s courses are set to welcome back thousands of local golfers eager to embrace another season of outdoor recreation.
Whether you’re a scratch golfer or just getting started, there’s no better time to grab your clubs and hit the links. The 2025 season starts Monday — and it’s shaping up to be a hole-in-one.
