Rochester, New York – Time is ticking for local creatives hoping to bring their artistic visions to life through the City of Rochester’s ArtsBloom program. With the application deadline fast approaching, artists and small arts organizations are being reminded to submit their proposals before 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

Mayor Malik D. Evans recently announced a fresh round of funding aimed at energizing Rochester’s creative community. The ArtsBloom program, now entering its third year, has already left a meaningful mark on the city’s cultural landscape — and there’s more to come for those ready to act.

“I love seeing artwork on display throughout the city,” said Mayor Malik D. Evans. “Public art plays a vital role in enhancing our environment and strengthening our sense of community. I encourage anyone who has a creative idea that needs funding to submit it to ArtsBloom for consideration and take advantage of this opportunity to bring your project to life.”

For 2025, the city has earmarked $100,000 in total funding for ArtsBloom grants. Artists or organizations looking to apply must propose a project that fits within one or more of the following categories: arts education, literary arts, performing arts, or visual arts. Applicants must also ensure their projects are located within Rochester city limits.

Three funding levels are available, giving a range of artists — from newcomers with small-scale ideas to established groups planning larger initiatives — the chance to get support. Those interested in the program are urged to carefully review the full guidelines and criteria outlined in the Request for Proposals.

ArtsBloom isn’t new to the scene. Since its launch, the program has backed a variety of cultural activities and projects — everything from dance performances and theater productions to visual art exhibitions and poetry readings. In its first two years, ArtsBloom awarded a total of $270,000, supporting 15 local arts groups and reaching an estimated 5,000 people across the city.

That momentum is part of a bigger picture. The ArtsBloom initiative directly supports the Arts + Culture goals within the broader Rochester 2034 Comprehensive Plan, which aims to make arts a central part of the city’s future growth and identity.

For those with questions about the application process or funding eligibility, the City is providing support until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Inquiries can be sent via email to Heather Anderson at [email protected].

With the deadline less than a month away, now is the time for artists to finalize their concepts, polish their proposals, and submit their applications. ArtsBloom continues to be a unique chance to turn local creativity into something real — and visible — for the entire city to enjoy.
