City of Rochester announces closure of major administrative offices and services this Friday for Good Friday

Rochester, New York – In observance of Good Friday, several city-run offices and facilities across Rochester will not be open to the public on Friday, April 18. The temporary closures are part of the city’s recognition of the holiday, which is widely observed across the country.
According to city officials, Rochester City Hall will be closed, along with a number of other key services. These include the Neighborhood Service Centers, R-Centers, the Rochester Traffic Violations Agency, Rochester Animal Services, and the Honorable Loretta C. Scott Center for Human Services administrative offices located at 57 St. Paul Street.
“Rochester Animal Services, will also be closed on Tuesday, April 15th for professional development.” This means residents seeking animal-related services should plan ahead or wait until regular hours resume later that week.
Despite these closures, some city services will continue operating without disruption. Refuse and recycling collection will proceed according to the regular schedule, with no changes expected for curbside pickup.
For those who rely on library resources, there’s good news. All Rochester Public Library branches will remain open and will operate on their standard hours during the holiday period, giving residents continued access to books, internet, and other library services.
The city’s 311 Call Center will also stay open, maintaining its regular schedule of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. “The 311 Call Center will remain open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. during normal hours.”
Residents are encouraged to take note of these service adjustments and plan accordingly, especially if they need to access city offices or require animal services. While some departments will be observing the holiday with a pause in operations, the city aims to keep essential services available where possible.
