Nature lovers invited to explore the beauty of Thousand Acre Swamp on a guided scenic trek this April

Penfield, New York – Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts will have a special opportunity to explore one of Penfield’s most beautiful natural areas this April. The Penfield Trails Committee is inviting the community to a free guided hike on Saturday, April 12, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, offering a chance to experience the scenic landscapes of the Nature Conservancy’s Thousand Acre Swamp.
The guided trek will take participants through a variety of picturesque habitats, including wooded trails, open meadows, and a tranquil pond, giving hikers a firsthand look at the diverse ecosystems that make this area so unique. The event is designed for all skill levels, making it a perfect outing for families, beginners, and experienced hikers alike.
Hikers will begin their journey from the parking lot at the dead end of Moore Drive, located just north of the Penfield Ambulance base on Jackson Road. From there, the group will embark on a carefully planned route along the paths and boardwalks of the Thousand Acre Swamp, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
With spring in full bloom, this trek provides the perfect setting to witness seasonal wildlife and vibrant plant life up close. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a peaceful walk, learn more about the local environment, or simply spend time outdoors, this event promises to be a rewarding experience.
The Penfield Trails Committee encourages participants to dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy footwear suitable for uneven terrain. Bringing binoculars and cameras is also recommended for those hoping to spot wildlife or capture scenic moments along the way.
