Niverville, New York – A Niverville resident has been arrested in connection with a burglary at a local business, according to New York State Police. Authorities took 32-year-old Matthew D. Sowycz into custody on March 27, 2025, following an investigation into an incident that occurred the previous day.

Troopers from the Schodack barracks received a complaint on March 26 at approximately 11:00 a.m. regarding a past burglary at a business in East Greenbush. After reviewing the case, investigators determined that Sowycz had allegedly entered the business without authorization on two separate occasions. He reportedly gained access using identification that belonged to another employee.

Following his arrest, Sowycz was transported to SP Schodack, where he was processed and later released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in East Greenbush Town Court on April 10, 2025.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the motive behind the incident or what information may have been accessed on the company’s computers. The investigation remains ongoing.
