Monroe County executive Adam Bello reveals full schedule for free Rabies Vaccination Clinics in 2025

Monroe County, New York – Monroe County Executive Adam Bello has officially announced the 2025 schedule for the Department of Public Health’s free Rabies Vaccination Clinics. The initiative is designed to help pet owners protect their animals from the deadly virus. The first clinic is set to take place on Friday, April 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rochester Sports Complex, located at 448 Smith Street.
“Having a pet is one of life’s great joys, but it also means taking steps to keep them safe,” said County Executive Bello. “Getting your pet vaccinated against rabies is an important part of that. These free clinics make it easy and convenient, so I encourage every pet owner to take advantage and protect their dog, cat or ferret.”
The county’s free rabies vaccination clinics offer a convenient way for pet owners to stay compliant with state laws requiring immunization. Under New York State law, all cats, dogs, and domestic ferrets must be vaccinated against rabies by the time they reach four months of age. Failure to do so can result in fines of up to $200 for pet owners.
To ensure the safety of all attendees, specific guidelines will be in place during the clinics. Dogs must be on leashes, while cats and ferrets need to be secured in carriers. Pets that have proof of prior rabies vaccinations will receive a three-year booster, while those without documentation will be given a one-year vaccine.
The county is urging residents to take advantage of this opportunity to keep their pets and the community safe. Rabies is a fatal disease that can spread from animals to humans, making vaccination a crucial step in prevention. By offering these free clinics, Monroe County is helping residents meet legal requirements while promoting public health.
For those looking for more details about upcoming vaccination clinics, additional information can be found by calling (585) 753-5171, emailing [email protected], or visiting https://www.monroecounty.gov/eh-rabies.
Pet owners are encouraged to mark their calendars and ensure their furry companions receive the necessary protection. With an accessible and cost-free solution, there’s no reason to delay this essential pet care responsibility.
